1. Pashmina Shawls
Real Pashmina is made from the wool of the Changthangi goat found in Ladakh. It is incredibly light yet warm.
- The Ring Test: A pure Pashmina shawl is so fine it can pass through a wedding ring (though this is not the only test).
- Price: A real hand-spun Pashmina starts from ₹10,000 and can go up to lakhs. Check for the GI (Geographical Indication) tag.
2. Kashmiri Saffron (Kesar)
Pampore in Kashmir is one of the few places in the world where saffron grows. It is the most expensive spice.
- Identification: Real saffron strands are dark red with a trumpet-shaped tip. If it's instantly turning water red, it might be artificial. Real saffron releases color slowly (golden yellow).
